About the Book
The stories in this book are true, and were first published on the internet in Legal Tilt Magazine (LegalTilt.com). Every month Legal Tilt Magazine publishes new stories by and about lawyers and the law. Legal Tilt provides an inside view of the legal mind, debunking the myth of the money grubbing ambulance chaser, and replacing it with the much more bizarre and fascinating reality.
Inspired by the autobiographical works of Charles Bukowski and Harvey Pekar, Legal Tilt tries to peel away the layers of stereotype and animosity surrounding attorneys. What is revealed is the real world of those who practice law. That world is as full of frustrations, confusion, and insanity as the rest of the world, but with the added burden of professional responsibility and liability. Lawyers aren’t allowed to make mistakes; when they do it’s called malpractice and can mean the end of a livelihood. This, along with the many other pressures of the workplace push some to drink, some to drugs, some to bizarre quirks, and others to give it all up and look for a less hectic way to make a living. The stories contained in this book provide a glimpse of the world of the legal mind.
LegalTilt.com was launched in April 1998 as Tilt Magazine and since then has grown in size and popularity, now attracting thousands of readers each month. This book is a compilation of the best stories published to date, as well as some bonus surprises.
