About the Book

Be Your Child's Best Advocate helps parents understand and accept what is preventing their child from performing and interacting successfully in school and in social situations. This book is intended to be a voice of encouragement and direction to the parents who have not yet found the courage or the connections to get help and support and for those parents who want to improve their effectiveness in getting the right help for their child. Each of the 100 strategies in the book is designed to help the reader deal with a particular problem. Ideas that have worked for parents are featured in “One Family’s Experience,” first-person accounts that accompany many strategies. Additional selected resources including videos, organizations, or books that provide more in-depth information on a particular topic will be featured for most of the strategies.
