About the Book

Tomar Lightfoot, Native American and a scout ship pilot for the Terran Federation Space Force, is ship wrecked in a desert on an uncharted and uninhabited planet more than 50 light years from home.  Fortunately his message torpedoes are undamaged and he can send one back to headquarters for rescue.  Due to the extent of damage to his ship, it is not capable of sustaining him until his rescue arrives, so Tomar must cross the desert and a mountain range just to find water. Finding sources of food are another matter.  Tomar faces many obstacles as he makes his journey, only to discover that some of the enemy that shot him down are also on the planet.

Now Tomar must not only struggle to survive on an alien planet, but must also contend with a group of hostile aliens who want nothing more than to see him dead.  Fortunately Tomar receives some help from an unexpected and at first unexplained source.

In order to relieve the boredom of being the only human on an uncharted planet, Tomar has developed the habit of talking with himself and often changes his accent and speech mannerisms in an effort to give the appearance that he is not really alone.  His dialogue with himself is often humorous and explains many of the events taking place in the story.

This story combines the elements of an action Science Fiction story with the Native American awareness of the Spirit World.  Most of the story takes place on the new planet although some very important parts do occur on Earth.  All of the major characters are well developed with strong personalities.
