About the Book

In Creative Self-Discovery: A Spiritual Journey into Self, Fred Weaver III, M.D. challenges readers to look beyond society’s ills and examine the roots of many problems that face us today. The book is at once a document of man’s experiences, as well as a proposition for change. Unique in its format and broad perspective, Creative Self-Discovery draws from Dr. Weaver’s living experiences as founder and director of the Institute for Creative Living in Honolulu, Hawaii and Los Angeles, California. He illustrates how our childhood experiences follow us throughout our lives. He further reveals how proper progressive creative education can remedy the problems facing us all—in particular, the problems of mental illness and substance abuse. Through a series of essays, outlines, and examples, Dr. Weaver demonstrates his theories in a direct manner which allows the reader to follow his plan chronologically. The book also includes a poetry section and a “play-work book” which allows the reader to actively participate in self question and answer sessions which will promote a private route to “self-discovery.” Be it myth or scientific fact, all roads leads to an increased self-consciousness if one follows “universal scientific and spiritual laws” related to the creative process.
