About the Book
Dormant talents and strengths often surface in the most unlikely people --- just ask Fannie Pekum. She’s a small town widow, who happens to have just one leg, spouts ancient proverbs, and talks to her deceased husband’s picture. She is rapidly on her way to becoming a cranky recluse. Her life takes on a different flavor when she hires Muriel, a teenage waif, to help her around the house. Before she knows it, this domineering but lovable old woman is involved in activities she never dreamed possible.
Mrs. Pekum and Muriel’s lives are intertwined with “the girls” --- a unique assortment of participants in a woman’s dwindling prayer group.
These delightful characters, full of wisdom, humor, and goodness, will entertain everyone while providing refreshment for the soul.
