About the Book
Tiresias is the nom de plume of a commentator who has, ‘been there,’ ‘done that’ … a former presidential appointee to a a subcabinet position; a public official in a Northeastern state; a lawyer; an occasionally produced playwright; a law school professor (adjunct and acting); and a prolific writer on law and economics. Au Contraire is a collection of essays, occasionally published but mainly circulated in samizdat form to colleagues and friends in government and business circles. The consistent point of view is contrarian; when presented with polemics from the Left, Tiresias attacks to the Right and vice-versa when the Right Wing is on the soap box. The forecasts are fearless, if occasionally unfulfilled; and as Tiresias says about himself, “often wrong but never in doubt.”
