About the Book

In the early 1970s the author set out to trace his paternal ancestors. To his surprise, he discovered that his origins were in Devon County, England, and not Scotland as he had been led to believe. With the advent of computer-aided research and ever-expanding data bases, he has also managed to show his descent from most of the ancient noble and royal houses of England, Scotland and Europe. Each line of descent is meticulously researched and described and is further illustrated by a pedigree chart in the appendices.

About the Author

Born in South Africa in 1936, youngest son of a Kenya Colony coffee planter, Philip Ramsay was educated at Michaelhouse College in Natal Province, South Africa. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College of California and his law degree from the University of California. After leaving high school, he lived in Canada and England before moving to the United States. An ex-military pilot, retired airline pilot and retired California attorney, he has spent over 30 years researching and writing this family history. He lives in Southern California with his wife, Rosemary, and two spoiled Siamese cats.
