From Yosemite to New Sinaia

About the Book

My memoir begins describing our summer vacations in Yosemite.  It recounts funny episodes, the various houses we rented there, the friends who came to visit, the meals we prepared, and the short trips we took.

After seventeen years, we found a dream house closer to home with a view of the San Gabriel mountains.  The mountain home was named “NEW SINAIA.”  I began keeping a journal chronicling our experiences with the mountain people, our neighbors, the pain of remodeling, visiting friends, books we read, music we listened to, stars and planets we observed through the telescope, the hikes we took, and the boaters, swimmers, and fishermen we watched around the lake.

It is a story of our family history, our work and achievements, our celebrations and sorrows, our son’s education, growing from age fourteen to be a married man and father, and us as grandparents.

About the Author

Born in Eastern Europe. Lived in both capitals, Bucharest and Budapest. Left Hungary during the 1956 Revolution. Eventually made my home in Southern California. Have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and worked for over thirty years in medical research projects. Took several writing classes. It was a challenge to write funny stories in English.
