About the Book
To all children who have been sexually abused and to those who love them, may you allow the Light of God´s Unconditional Love to overshadow your justifiable outrage and attract everlasting peace to your hearts.
Meet Michael Mercurio, fresh out of Bridgehampton High School. Outwardly he´s a local legend immersed in basketball. He loves the sound of the swishing net in the predawn hours. A college scholarship awaits him. Nothing inspires him more than his love for the game-that is, until he falls for a forbidden love and passionately pursues a new calling: Understanding how to manifest his Heart´s Desire.
Thus begins an incredible metaphysical journey that leads Michael down the paths of good and evil. As Michael continuously confronts evil, he religiously searches his soul for a way to reconcile these distressing manifestations with the Jesus Principle of "resist not evil" that declares them merely false appearances. This theme extends throughout the entire story, integrating a compelling desire for inner peace with a vision for world peace.
Resist Not Evil is a sprawling epic with a basketball motif, a metaphysical quest, and a revolutionary approach to war and peace. There are enough twists and turns to keep a James Cameron fan on edge, for there is a passionate love story woven into these pages that illustrates the Great Law of Attraction: What we think about . . . we bring about!
"Our interactive world is in tremendous turmoil these days, and I feel it is up to each one of us to raise the consciousness of our world. As each of us is happier and healthier, we pass that along to the people we meet, and they pass it along as well. I am here to co-create an innovative idea that is so profoundly interpersonal, all who are lifted by its power will inspire others to elevate it even higher."
Although Resist Not Evil is based on inciting incidents from the author´s past, the characters of Rocco and Celia Mercurio are not patterned after the author´s parents, Alice and Sal Vacca. Dad was a "defender of the absent." Whenever Mom asked him why he defended even those who are "clearly in the wrong," Dad would say, "Because they are not here to defend themselves."
The real life characters of Sharon Stone, Jon Bon Jovi, Oprah Winfrey, President Barack Obama, Steven Roth, Deepak Chopra, Russell Simmons, Reverend James Cook, Erica Ford, April Leong, Simone Meeks, Gregory Meeks, Michael Scott, Mark Crandall, Felix Cavaliere, Al Green, R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, Paul McCartney, Martin Bandier, Ted Conklin, Robert Ducas, Dick Barnett, Julius Erving, Mike Lupica, Rick Pitino and Larry Brown are not responsible for how the author perceives them. Although the author attempted to capture the spirit of these fine people, their book character´s dialogue is the author´s, not theirs.
Virtually every character in the novel is patterned after someone from the author´s past; or in some cases, a combination of personality traits gleaned from various people is blended into one character. The lone exception is the character of Seeka Maria, who is not patterned after anyone from the author´s past.
The author believes that Seeka Maria represents the Liberated Soul of Woman, and that she is as real as Source Energy manifesting in a physical body. For some, seeing is believing. For the author, the surest way to manifest anything is to feel the joy of its creation, believe it, and appreciate it long before it manifests.
When I was a youngster, Dad always reminded me that a good story is never over until the EPILOGUE. Hence, the r
