About the Book
Under the Blue Dome is a historical novel, illustrating the systematic destruction of the social and political infrastructures of Iran, told from the viewpoints of three women: Bonnie, the American wife of an Iranian surgeon, her daughter, Shirin, a university student, and their illiterate maid, Fatima. These three are caught in the turmoil of the political conflicts of the late seventies, which will whirl them into an unforeseeable future, through the nightmare of the fall of Mohammad-Reza Shah Pahlavi and the ascent of Ayatollah Khomeini.
About the Author
Elma Hovanessian was born in Tehran, Iran. A graduate of Tehran University, she majored in English literature and continued her studies in creative writing in London and Los Angeles. She has contributed to English language newspapers and magazines in Iran, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
