About the Book
These plays, all written in Hannah's post-occupational years, were intended for more "mature" play-readers and performers. However, although the issues involved may be geared toward the "older" generation, her plays are enthusiastically received by the young and old alike. These six plays consider generational boundaries, challenge traditional values and stereotypes, and discuss how to stay young and involved long after retirement.
About the Author
Hannah grew up in Brooklyn, earned her Bachelors Degree from Brooklyn College, and her Masters from SUNY-Albany. She and Leon Shapiro married in 1934, and in their 68-plus years of marriage have enjoyed two children (and two children-in-law), five grandchildren (and two grandchildren-in-law), and four great-grandchildren (so far). Her numerous jobs have included guidance counselor, teacher, and assistant buyer for a large department store. Hannah has been involved in theatre for nearly her entire life: writing, directing, acting, and teaching acting classes to both children and adults. In 1947 she was instrumental in forming the Albany Dramatic Group, an interracial theatrical troupe with which she was actively involved, as director, into the early 50's. She is currently collaborating on a book of memoirs about her early life.
