About the Book
M.B. Elliston’s Stories I Can Tell is a deeply personal autobiography by a Texan who was raised during the Great Depression and went on to live the American dream. Young M.B. raised animals, planted and harvested, swapped cars and houses, sold books and built churches on a wing and a prayer. Later, he ventured into real estate, while remaining a life-long gardener. Above all, M.B. is an expert and entertaining storyteller. These stories, like the saga of his life, are rooted in a hearty sense of humor and a deep understanding of the roles of work, faith and family in life’s journey.
About the Author
Melvin “M.B.” Elliston was born July 2, 1919, in Coleman, Texas. As his family worked its way to financial stability, M.B. became a young “jack of all trades.” While attending Washington Missionary College in the early 1940s, M.B. met and married Margaret Davis. For the next 20 years, he worked as an evangelist, church-builder and fundraiser for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Later, he worked as a general contractor, apartment and motel manager, and cattle farmer. Now semi-retired, M.B. and Margaret, as well as the families of their three sons, Bruce, Leon and Roger, all live in the Asheville, N.C. area.
