About the Book

This book by Frank L. Henninger, "Ravenwolf Poems: A Collection of Free Verse and Modern Haiku," is a selected compilation of the author's lifelong commitment to personal expression through various styles of poetry. Some of the free verse poems included here have been previously published in the college literary magazine of his undergraduate alma mater, and in Creative Thought magazine, a now out-of-print metaphysical publication. Some were inspired by his experience of studying metaphysics at a local New Thought spiritual community, or his exposure to indigenous spiritual beliefs and practices.  None of the haiku have been previously published, and all of these haiku are his most recent poetic explorations. He has found writing haiku to be a wonderful inspirational practice of mindfulness. The black and white photographs were provided by Frank's wife, and the art designs are "zentangles" created by a close personal friend who is a Certified Zentangle Teacher. The "Ravenwolf" logo on the front cover is an original design from MoxieInk Design, which he has previously used as cover art for two audio CDs of native American flute music.

About the Author

Frank L. Henninger is an author, poet, musician and workshop facilitator. His non-fiction book, "Compass Points: Finding A Mid-life Bearing On Mount Rainier," is available as a print-on-demand title from both Xlibris and Amazon. This is a personal account of his first two climbing adventures on Mount Rainier, located outside Seattle WA, which, at 14,410 feet high, is the fifth highest mountain in the continental US. He performs on and teaches others to play native American flutes, hand drums, metal hand pans, and didgeridoo, and he has four volumes of music available from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and CDbaby. He is also a trained world music circle facilitator. Frank's first volume of poetry, "Ravenwolf Poems: A Collection of Free Verse and Modern Haiku," is also now available from both Xlibris and Amazon. He is retired from full-time work, after a 36-year career in college bookstore management. He has earned a BS in Biology and Psychology, an MA in Liberal Studies, and an MA in Consciousness Studies, and is a member of the Academy of American Poets. He also teaches workshops he has created on personal journaling, writing haiku, and cosmology and consciousness.
