A Jewish family lives under the oppressive rule in Czarist Russia. Jake grows up first as a Jew, secondly as a tailor, and lastly as a Cossack. He is known for his strength and fighting ability. He fears nobody, but everybody fears him He perfects the tricks of the French apache.
Jake’s family face progroms and realize they must escape to New York for the survival. The HIAS organization helps the family. They are thankful to practice Judaism in America. He enters the Army during WWII as a First Lieutenant assigned to accounting in Paris. A scandal develops and Jake is unrighteously blamed.
Throughout his life, Jake, is tormented by women. He marries a wicked lady who bothers him sexually, physically and mentally. His escape is amnesia. The story continues with Jakes parents hunting him down, discovering him in Hawaii, and then the Army moves him to Walter Reed for psychiatric care. He returns home, but the woos of his marriage continue.
About the Author
This book is Greg Babin's first attempt at authoring a book. He had dreamed all of his life to accomplish this feat. Gregory Babin grew up in Rochester, New York during the depression era. He valued education very highly. He earned a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Rochester. during the 1930's. He moved to Maryland in 1948, and then worked at the State Department as a librarian. He later worked for the Department of Defense as an analyst, and received commendations for his accomplishments. During his tenure at the State Department, he earned a Master's Degree in Library Science from the Catholic University of America. He was married for thirty-nine years to the late Lillian Kiener. He has two surviving daughters; Susanne Paper lives in Florida and Marylin Jordan in Maryland. He has four wonderful grandchildren.
