About the Author
During a 36-year Foreign Service career, Ambassador James P. Zumwalt served overseas in Kinshasa, Kobe, Tokyo, Beijing, Dakar, and Bissau, these last two as United States Ambassador to the Republic of Senegal and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. Previously, Zumwalt had worked in the State Department’s Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs and on the Bureau of Asia and Pacific Affairs’ Japan, Korea, and Philippine desks. He also worked for the United States Trade Representative’s Office of Japanese Affairs.
