About the Author

Shelia Cockcroft was an English teacher at the college high school, and middle school levels until her stroke in 1994. Purple Bear became an important part of her therapy and she was to dedicate this book to Jodi Morgan, her speech therapist. Shelia now lives in Dorchester, SC with her husband Jesse and her son Jordan Matt Watson, a rising college freshman at the University of South Carolina, has been drawing since a young age and continues to enjoy illustrating and designing.
