About the Book
Irving the Lost Llama is about a young llama as he struggles with “coming of age” and finding his place in life. Irving is a story that has several lessons within it. The story focuses on the main character being placed in several situations that he is unfamiliar with and doesn’t understand how to fit in. While Irving is struggling to fit in and belong he makes lots of mistakes and misinterpretations. The story follows Irving as he is confused by the cruelty of others who make fun of his appearance as well as the things he does. It isn’t until a stranger befriends him that he is able to show his true character. After Bernie (the horse) befriends him he is able to demonstrate his loyalty and integrity. When his actions are misinterpreted and the friends are separated, Irving is then makes an amazing discovery! This story allows the reader and or the audience to learn about some very simple needs that we as humans all have. Through the animals’ experience the reader can understand the need to belong, the value of kindness as well as the importance of accepting differences in others.
