Kyle Crader left Birmingham on the night of his high school graduation, never to look back. Now it’s 1998, a movie based on his book is opening and Kyle has accepted a book contract requiring promotional appearances, starting in Birmingham. He tells himself it’s for the money but he knows it’s to see her again, to see Stacy Davalo. Kyle returns and is reunited with Stacy and his old friends. He is also confronted with the disappointing and frightening truth of his audience – skinheads, racists, rednecks, and a small group of social misfits so inspired by Kyle’s work that they want him to join them in their declaration of war against a society they find oppressive. In fact, the vampires demand it.
