About the Book
One part mystery, one part comedy, one part a tale of international intrigue, The Ministry of Toys is set in the tiny Arabian Gulf nation of Zain, where American systems analysts do strange things to an ancient culture, while the Zainis do strange things to the minds of the Americans. The mercurial, London-educated Yousef Hassan Al-Afar becomes almost by accident leader of an Islamic revolution, while the plodding, deliberate American Ph.D., Richardson Plummer, looks on in amazement and non-comprehension at its outcome.
