About the Book

This book is a nonfiction collection of stories of the historical Northwest. Seven of the twelve stories have been previously published in Western magazines by the authors.

The lead story is a narrative of the Northwest’s most famous lost mine. Like the Southwest’s Lost Peg-Leg Smith Mine saga, this event has grown to mythical proportions. At the same time, the Lost Blue Bucket Gold story has a strong basis in documented historical fact.

Through research in both the field and wagon train journals, the authors bring a new perspective to this 150 year-old puzzle.

About the Author

The authors are both retired educators. Their interest in the lead story in this collection came about quite naturally. Their home is in Western Idaho and they own a small ranch in Central Oregon. Travel to and from these two areas involved crossing the locale where the legendary Blue Bucket Gold had been originally both discovered and lost. Twenty years of research in the field and though early records have resulted in new insights into an old mystery. The authors have been equally diligent where the other eleven stories are concerned. They have spent much time in research of sources and in field work in the various high plateaus and mountains that appear in the stories.
