Let’s start at the beginning…

No matter how one views religion, the above is typical of what is found in virtually all the numerous differing beliefs in the world.  The very great value of herbal foods has been stressed since ancient times.  The basic reasons as to WHY is now something modern Man has for the most part either forgotten or ignored.  The result has been swift growth of what are termed "Modern Diseases”.  Over a hundred forms of inflammatory diseases collectively called 'arthritis', as well as heart disease, strokes, and cancer strike an ever-growing number of people all over the world, but especially in America.  Many who escape these major killers fall victim to high blood pressure, liver disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, emphysema, Alzheimer's disease, or any of a host of others.  NONE of these need to happen if we know something about avoiding them or treating them if we fail.  To assist in doing that is the full purpose of this book.

To introduce the importance of proper nutrition, to achieve such disease-free health, and to emphasize the wisdom of using herbs to help us do that, a short preview seems appropriate.  To do this properly, we should single out a particular disease that strikes many people.  We can then make some comparisons that will shed light on the prevention and cure of it.  Cancer is the one that immediately comes to mind.  

This modern day scourge, in one form or another, seems to be more prevalent between the ages of 44 and 65.  Skin cancers are common, but relatively few are potentially life threatening.  However, other types of life-threatening cancers  seem to be increasing.  

Unfortunately, the true picture of how many die from cancer itself is very hard to determine.  Often death is not directly attributable to cancer but to a secondary infection, such as pneumonia, and it is this that is listed by doctors and hospitals as the cause of death.  This makes both of them look a little better, but does skew the cancer statistics so much they are of little value.  It is apparent, though, that the incidence of life-threatening cancer is climbing.  If we compare it to the rapid rise in the past half century, it may keep rising until deaths from it double or triple in not very many years.

Obviously, it is highly important for everyone to know how to prevent cancer from starting, or cure it if it does.  Both are covered in this book.  Following the guidelines laid out in it will also result in achieving a strong, effective immune system which can free one from virtually ALL diseases.  And
