About the Book
In this book there is a reframing of the practice of classroom teaching. Activities are suggested that allow children to enter the academic disciplines from their own starting point, meshing their abilities to the nature of the subject. The methods offered have been developed and applied by numerous teachers over a long period of time.
The book redirects the emphasis of public discourse on schooling from standards and testing to an emphasis on the process by which the child arrives at understanding. It supports the teacher’s focus on the learning child.
