About the Author

Leighton E. Cluff, M.D., MACP has made important contributions to infectious diseases, clinical pharmacology, international health, and health policy. He served as a Professor of Medicine at John Hopkins University, Chair and Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida, Executive VP and President of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine/ National Academy of Sciences, and has authored/edited books on infectious diseases, therapuetics, clinical pharmacology, nursing, caring for the sick and disabled, philanthropy, and health policy. His many experiences in health care, health professional education, training, and medical research in the US and internationally provide him and his wife, eth, with memorable experiences during their many years together.
