About the Book

Author Dak Whitewulfe resurfaces again for this two story anthology of sci-fi terror in the Japanese vein. Acting as master of ceremonies is the Kryplah; a crippled horror who spins the tormented web of two Japanese tales from his own alley in Toronto Canada. 1.SWOLLEN HUMAN HIVE: This first tale of nature and genetics gone awry begins on Axgal, a spacestation housing experimental prisoners. A young policeman, Mark Kurata is assigned to watch over a criminal who it turns out houses a new malignant breed of killer bees. This special swarm has a cannibalistic mindset, and they are a composite of several species, concentrating almost exclusively on the African honeybee. They are known as the Hive, and they have a destiny. To find the ultimate human host in which to combine with completely. The power given the sanctual flesh is superhuman, everything stored in the brain the Hive can utilize fully. But once the body is worn down, the Hive discards it, to search for the next victim. The Hive escapes, causing a riot aboard Axgal, stinging all in its path. The victims of the Hive don't merely swell, the blood is stolen and replaced with venom. Consumption continues as the victims swell until they burst. In the process of battling Kurata It soon finds another temporary dwelling within another body, boarding a ship. It sets a course for Earth, Kurata following in pursuit. Tokyo Japan, 2087: Enter suicidal computer programmer Hoshino Inagaki. He is miserable, held by the dirge of loneliness and emptiness that seems to have consumed his life. Soon the Hive arrives on Earth, seeing in Hoshino what they need. He is, and becomes their perfect suitable walking habitat. The Swollen Human Hive. Unsuspecting gang of toughs, the Glamour Boys take full advantage of the Hive's partial brownout of Tokyo, for mischief. They're participating in a rumble with grungy rival and hip hop fanatic, Koji Roshijin and his boys. Neither of the gangs have any knowledge of the otherworldly force causing the citywide power outage, but amidst their rumble at the Makiwara construction site, they meet the Swollen Human Hive. Most of the gang members are killed, swelling and bursting with bee stings. The rest flee in panic. One of the Glamour Boys stays behind, being their toughest challenges the deformed hybrid. He shows heart in hand-to-hand combat but is savagely defeated. The Hive takes all victims but savors a struggle. The three remaining Glamour Boys and Koji Roshijin meet up with spacecop Kurata, hoping to aid him in his search for the Hive and its suitable host. Within the gang there is commotion brewing. Jealousy and competition amongst best friend along with hatred for foe Roshijin, leading to physical as well as emotional tragedy. Friendships are severed, foolish lives are lost. The Hive's numbers increase as more victims are taken. The need for an external lair arises, Hoshino's former skills as a computer expert come in handy. This comes with a meeting with a horrified policewoman who is a hypochondriac. She comes to terms with her own mortality, and limitations through the sudden disturbing confrontation. The Hive has a memorable battle with a hermit who possesses incredible powers before another wave of significant mutation. (SEE sample chapter.10 "Challenging Prey.") Meanwhile Kurata communicates with Axgal, who agree to send another bee/human hybrid to combat the Hive. This sets the stage for a wild match up of Bee vs. hornet, a martial arts madness meets swelling kaiju/anime assault on the senses. What we've been waiting for. This has to be read to be believed. Or disbelieved. The Giant Bee Killer hornet hybrid takes on the Hive; both humanoid hives take random prey on Tokyo streets, Insect swarm filled killing machines. The final solution arrives in the form of louse parasites, fired from a gun. Will they be enough to destroy the terror that is SWOLLEN HUMAN HIVE? 2. UPCHUCK BLUES (THE CHUNKBUCKET DISCO QUEEN): Poor Midor
