About the Author

Dorothy Milligan was born and reared in Arkansas and Oklahoma, started college in Texas and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from East Central University, Ada OK. She married George Milligan at 18 and by the time she was 22 they had produced three sons: Tim, Ralph and Paul. She taught English, Speech and Journalism at Byng School for 37 years, in addition to writing grants for the school. Her work with Indian Education resulted in five books: The Indian Way series: Seminoles and Creeks, Chickasaws, Cherokees and Choctaws. A spin-off of this series was The How Book of Being Indian. Most recently, she collaborated with Freda Flatt on a children’s book entitled The Hunter Who Was Not So Great. Freda is an artist friend who paints under the name of Freda DeOdis, and whose drawing of a country church embellishes the cover of Seasoned with Salt. . Lynda Dixon, a pastor's wife for 50 years, was born in St. Louis, MO. She met her husband (Joe Dixon) their first day of college and they married in 1955. Their two sons (Randy and Rod) were born during seminary days in Louisville, KY and their daughter (Kelly) was born while Joe was pastor of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Ada, OK. Lynda completed her bachelor's degree at East Central Oklahoma University in 1984. She worked for the U.S. Government for 26 years, retiring from the Social Security Administration in 1996.
