About the Book

About the Author

I was born in 1924 in the Ozark Mountains of MO. I was born practically on the bank of a beautiful Ozark river called the Big Niangua. I lived wtihin two miles of this river for the first nineteen years of my life. It was a good place. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the early 40's and served two years in the South Pacific in Halsey's third fleet. Just before going over seas, in '43 I met the girl of my dreams, Vinita. We were married as soon as I came back in '45. We have raised four wonderful sons and all have had a wonderful life--we still are. From a very early age, I have had the ambition to build things. I have invented several hand tools. My life's work was repairing trucks and tractors. Now that I am retired, I have turned my creative ambitions to writing. In all my poems and songs can be seen what goes on in my mind and heart, past-present-future. Some of it is symbolism, but most reflect many years of building memories just as my book title suggests, Moods: Memories and Echoes. Ray Swanigan P.S.
