Mark Crowl has never forgiven himself for falling in love with Pilar Garcia when he was an exchange student to Ecuador. Loving her resulted in tragedy, and he has lived with anger and shame ever since. Twenty years later Dr. Jose Abad summons Mark back to Ecuador because Pilar has a terminal illness. She lives with the nuns at Cristo Rey and performs miracles for the sick. Mark hopes to rediscover love and faith. Most of all he needs forgiveness. When Pilar’s illness progresses, he prays for a miracle. But he doesn’t understand her miracle for him until the surprising end.
About the Author
Paul Pusateri was a Rotary Club exchange student to Ecuador in 1982-1983. He lived in Portoviejo with a doctor and was exposed to the romanticism of Latin America. Paul befriended numerous people in Ecuador and learned that love transcends time and geographical borders. Pilar’s Miracle is about that kind of love and the miracles that arise from it. Paul has since graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a master’s degree in history and a law degree. He practices law in Canton, Ohio.
