About the Book
The author, Lucy Figueroa, reaffirms that church educational programs are the missing pathways needed to reconnect society with the public health system. Figueroa brings church leaders to the understanding for developing stronger educational programs, programs developed with a solid foundation driven by research, partnership, and wisdom, as well as determination. The literature also addresses several significance strategies to prepare church leaders for his or her role in the community-based education. The author advocates that community leaders must work united as one with the public health system to maximize society’s well-being spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
About the Author
Lucy I. Figueroa acquired a bachelor in science of nursing degree from the Catholic University of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Figueroa also completed a masters in science of nursing degree from University of Phoenix in Maitland, Florida. Since then, the author has practiced a wide variety of nursing positions, such as medical surgical nurse, community resource nurse, home health nurse, and nursing educator among others. The commitment to society has inspired her to pursue community-based organizations such as churches to incorporate health educational programs. Figueroa’s passion has been education, which she believes holds the key to individuals’ behavior modification. Figueroa continues to devote her time to the Samaritan Health Concepts Program, a community resources program located at her local church in Longwood, Florida.
