About the Author

I am a life-long learner and educator. I love my family and I love to read, write and illustrate. One day someone asked me, "With the age of technology growing so rapidly, how do we keep our babies and children close to us? How do we bond with our children and how do we encourage them to read?"

I thought about it and as this challenge turned around and around in my head, it came to me – Write and Illustrate books! This is how we can keep bonds with our children, when we hold them close in our arms and read to them, they look into our eyes and see our faces. They see our smiles and they feel the warmth of the closeness as they grow.

I am an advocator of literacy and I honestly believe that reading can be a way for everyone to explore and experience new worlds. It is never too late to learn to read. Children should have their own library cards and pick out their own books. They should see their family read. They should be allowed to read out loud and silently, and they should have their own special places and spaces to read.

I challenge every child to pick up a book, read it and then tell me about it. I want to know what you are reading. Contact me at lolita_richard@yahoo.com and talk to me!
