About the Book
This book came about as a result of a question asked in Sunday School. I was the adult Sunday School teacher at our church. We used the Bible as our study guide. This accomplishes several things: FIRST, it motivates a personal study of God's Holy Word. SECOND, it generates a curious mind. THIRD, it educates by inspiration of the Holy Ghost. FOURTH, it results in godly living by God's people. FIFTH, it offers protection from false teachers. SIXTH, it brings intellectual satisfaction and spiritual poise to the Bible student. We had finished studying the Book of Ruth, and I asked what they would like to study next. "FAMILY VALUES" was the response. Certainly it is the need for both the church and the world. In a church and a world with less than a virtuous morality, this is a subject of the greatest importance. When the family functions by God's standards, it thrives; when the family functions by the world's standards, it self-destructs. This book owes its life to God the Father; God the Son; God the Holy Ghost; Adam Clarke; Matthew Henry; John Calvin; Keil-Delitszch; The Preacher's Outline and Sermon Bible; The Holy (King James) Bible; and a very successful and happy 49-year-marriage to the same lady. Our children have no police record, are not on drugs, do not use alcoholic beverages, and are all honorably and gainfully employed. Some of our children were teen-agers when their drunken daddy got saved. I was 40 years old when that glorious event took place. God's grace has been sufficient for thirty years. We have five sons and three daughters. Four are missionaries; one is a prison chaplain; one is an evangelist. How God blesses when we obey Him! Six out of eight coming from a drunkard's home to the service of the Lord is indeed a blessing. The other two are being pursued by prayer and the blessed Holy Ghost. Praise God for His gracious blessings.
