About the Book

A Latino woman, raised in the blight of North Philadelphia, marries a successful man, escaping to a better section of the city. Amid a series of tragic events, Cookie finds herself in a tangled mass of deceptions, including her husband´s affair, and that her daughter has been sneaking out to have sex. But, nothing prepares her for the shocking news, when her mother reveals a secret, forcing her to decide between two cultures. She must travel back to North Philly, confront her past, and decide how to come to terms with the shocking discovery that she is of Irish descent.

About the Author

Carmen Gomez-Quintana was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She arrived in Philadelphia in August, 1965, and graduated from Hallahan High ten years later. She is the mother of one girl, Lisa, and two boys. In addition to Secret Revelation, she has a collection of short stories and essays, that will be included in her second book, "I Wrote It My Way", to be published in 2002. This is her first novel. A sequel to Secret Revelation is on the works. Carmen resides in Philadelphia, with her husband Sam, and two boys, Sam and Matthew.
