About the Book
Over the Hill and Still Afloat answers the question: "Can a late middle-aged couple with no nautical experience find happiness on the beautiful European canals?". The book recounts 14 years of adventure and misadventure from buying a 100 year-old iron Dutch canal barge in all ignorance and innocence to tips on buying a barge and life on the waterways. Included are adventures with the police, problems with the dreaded French bureaucracy, and life in small towns. Also, stories about interesting people and places as well as the many acts of kindness extended by the French people to visiting Americans.
About the Author
Charlotte Mazonson and Harold Sossen met late in life. Charlotte, a retired family counselor, real-estate manager, and grandmother, and Harold, a semi-retired inventor, share a love of France which led to summers afloat on the canals of Europe.
