About the Book
In The Secret Within: My Mother, Myself, the author takes you through her own personal struggle with a seizure/panic disorder which she acquired at the tender age of fourteen. The struggle involves the whole family, but particularly her mother who is her best friend and her caretaker her entire life. The book expresses the trials and tribulations and different experiences that the author has had while living with this disorder.
Finally, at the age of 28, the author’s health begins to recouperate just in time for her mother’s diagnosis of a rare form of cancer called Paget’s disease. That is, her mother develops a terminal form of cancer, and in the face of death, the author is able to combat her deepest demons and overcome her seizure/panic disorder, which long held her prisoner. This tale of family, life and death is so real and transcending it reminds all of us of how significant it is to cherish life and to have Hope!
