About the Book

Eighty percent of Americans experience back-pain. About 15 percent of back-pain sufferers sense chronic pain. This is a true story about a chronic low-back-pain victim, Alan, and his obliging wife, Ella. More than 35 physicians fail to give meaningful relief during his long trip through pain. This book is of self-hope as well as of self-help. You will recognize Alan’s dogged perseverance during his medical journey, a source of inspiration for present or would-be back-pain sufferers. You will also gain insight into how chronic pain affects not only the life of the victim but also of those close to him.

About the Author

Alan M. Cvancara is a retired geology professor and author of five nature books: Edible Wild Plants and Herbs, A Field Manual for the Amateur Geologist, Exploring Nature in Winter, Sleuthing Fossils, and At the Water's Edge. He and his wife have co-authored Windows Into Legacy, a poetry-photography book. Alan is also an artistic photographer. Ella J. Cvancara is a poet, with numerous poems published in many poetry journals and anthologies, and a short story author. Ella is editor of a poetry chapbook, Voicings from the High Country. She holds two bachelor degrees and a master's degree.
