About the Book

Robert J. Ranger is an attorney temporarily practicing as a private investigator. He leaves New York, at the request of an attorney friend, Larry Braden, to investigate the unusual death of an entomologist who is found in a wealthy rancher’s vineyard. The request came when R.J. faced difficult decisions regarding his personal and professional life. The people he meets in Fresno County are diversified in their reaction to him. Most are hostile and uncooperative, including arrogance from Howard Martin, his client, and owner of the vineyards. The most favorable are the gentle psychologist and the emergency room nurse. Despite the dangerous encounters, as a wine enthusiast, R.J. appreciates the bounty of the grape.
