About the Author

Born July 10, 1912 – american Indian Parentage on Indian Reservation – L’Anse, Michigan. Enrolled at age six in Gov’t Indian Boarding School due to Mother’s death. Shuttled back and forth between Indian School and Public School on Indian Reservation with Grandmother. Graduated 9th grade at Gov’t Indian School, Mt. Pleasant, Mich., 9th grade was the complete course. Returned to Reservation Home and attended Public High School. L’Anse, Mich., Graduated in 1933 after missing school due to some illness and failures. Went to work at Wisconsin Indian Conservation Corps. These Accounts cover the “Early Years” of my life.
