About the Book

Phyle Of A Scorpion: Puerto Rican Heat

To be honest, I never would have thought the original Phyle Of A Scorpion would have a second part. It wasn’t easy to put together. It took just as much time to come together as it did to think of what it should be about. After the original POAS was written, I thought that was it. There would be no second book because I couldn’t think of anything at the time. I had said all I wanted to say.

Three months after the release of the original POAS, I began to take notes for short stories I wanted to put together whenever I had some time. Over a small amount of time, I had written three short stories. There was one left that I was working on when a friend of mine got with me and we started talking about taking a trip to Cancun. I liked the idea, and it was perfect for all the ideas I needed for my next book. It was going to be about a trip to Cancun, and I wasn’t going to write about it until I came back from there. Unfortunately, my friend and I couldn’t make the trip. We had the money, but he was going to be moving to another state. The ideas for Cancun were going to be talked about in a special chapter for the book called Return To The Original Phyle. That section was going to be dedicated to the original POAS. I had to do something to keep it real. POAS is what got me started, so there was no way I was going to turn away from it. It’s just that I had something different in mind after another three months.

One night, I found myself chatting on the internet with one of my friends from Florida. She asked me what I missed about Florida because it has been forever since I’ve been there. There was a cruise that I went on, and I loved it. All I could think about was how it would mean the world if I could share that with someone. That night, I had ideas coming in like bills on the first of the month. I decided to take notes for what would be my next book. My friend was going to be a character in the story along with me. We were going to take a cruise, but the plot was for us not to know each other. We would meet, and it would go on from there. So where would the ship be going to? Not Cancun... I decided to save the best for last! The ship would be on it’s way to Puerto Rico. The story wouldn’t be the same if my friend wasn’t in it that I was supposed to go to Cancun with, so he became a character in the story. I needed more characters now. Instead of creating personalities for several different people, I decided to do something else. I took six of my closest friends and made them all characters in my story. For one reason, my friend was leaving the state soon. And for another reason, I’ve already had three others move away. This is just my way of saying that I haven’t forgotten about them, and we’ll always be hanging out together in the book.

As for a story line, all I had was the cruise and the island. That was a start. I needed a way to have my friends stand out. The original POAS came from actual events that happened to me in the past. During that time, me and my friends have had a lot of great days when we were hanging out. Also, there was much to talk and laugh about. All the notes began crashing into my mind. I just knew that the new book was going to be better than the first.

The final notes for the book were written after I had met Kennedi. We became very close over a small matter of time. I’m sure at one point in everyone’s life, you eventually stop and think about your happiness. Who will you spend it with? That’s what Kennedi and I thought about, so I talked about it throughout the book. So many times, people date around until they find something worth hanging on to. That’s what was happening to me in this story. It all started with me listening to the radio and winning some tickets to go to Puerto Rico. Since I won, who better to take with me than six of my closest
