About the Book

This book is about a girl who is afraid to cry due to the lost of her loved ones. However, she and a friend get a chance to meet new friends in an adventurous land called Buttercup Land. There she learns that death is a part of nature and not to be afraid to cry. She also learns the lesson not to judge a book by its cover.

About the Author

India K. Haynes was born February 25, 1975 in Thomasville, Georgia. However, India grew up in Tallahassee, Florida where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Florida A&M University. India has been writing, singing, and recording since her early childhood. India started writing Sweet Shana in Atlanta while attending Dekalb Community College as a freshman in 1994. Through the years she would add and delete ideas to the story. However, because India’s main goals were finishing school and singing, she would often set the book aside. It was the pregnancy of her second child in the year 2000 that motivated her most to not only complete but publish the book. India enjoys having fun and to her that means anything that grabs and keeps her attention. But she admits that past, present, and hopefully future times she spends with her two children, family and friends are most fun, rewarding, and memorable. India has also done backgroud vocals for several artists and has written and recorded songs which are featured on compilation records. Also, in the summer of 1996 India became a member of the group Ghostown DJ’s. India toured the world singing live the smash hit “My Boo” which is featured on Jermaine Dupi’s So So Def, Bass All Star Album. Although, India is no longer in the group she still enjoys writing, singing, recording, and traveling.
