About the Author

About The Author Patricia Bee is a native of Beaufort, South Carolina, and has taught for seventeen years in the public school system. She is a graduate of Beaufort High School, The University of South Carolina, at Columbia, and Iowa State University of Science and Technology, Ames, Iowa. Her first book, Mama’s Pearls, was published in 2003. (For the back of book, or author’s page) About The Illustrator Vernell Dunmeyer, an early childhood educator, lives and teaches in Charleston, South Carolina. Her vivid artwork utilizes various mediums and textiles. Her masterful illustrations combine acrylic, pencil, pen, and ink.
