About the Author
The author was educated in the public schools of Elizabeth, NJ. After graduating from high school in 1946, he served for 18 months in the US Army in Trieste, Italy. In 1952 he received his bachelor’s degree with honors at Rutgers where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In 1956, he took his master’s degree at Penn State followed by his doctoral degree in 1958, and in 1975, a second master’s degree at Bryn Mawr. He also attended the University of Florence on a Fulbright Scholarship, the Cherubini National Conservatory of Music in Florence, and the New School of Music in Philadelphia. He was a college professor for 30 years before taking early retirement to pursue a second career as a composer, cellist and orchestra conductor. He is currently engaged in a third career as a writer.
