About the Book

The year was 1952 when a sailor named Freddie Gill was murdered in sin-driven HARKERS, a seedy neighborhood Bridgeton, Virginia that offered all the vices known to man to navy personnel on liberty. The killer disappeared into the sordid fabric of Harkers, never seemingly to again surface.

Thirty-three years later, Jack O’Brennan, a retired Bridgeton detective is asked by Gill’s hometown friends to search out details of his death.. Widowed O’Brennan with a handful of friends unveil the grimy details of prostitution, drugs and theft that surrounded Gill’s death. Their search for truth eventually expose a major power broker in the nation’s capital.

About the Author

After Frontenac, his first published effort, ED MATTHEWS follows with his second novel, HARKERS. The parents of four grown children, Matthews and his wife, Carol live in rural Upstate New York. Now retired, he taught and coached football over a span of thirty-two years at the local school. A navy veteran, he served two terms as Mayor of the Village of Caledonia
