About the Book

Julianna Riggs is a young photographer and artist who is perfectly content with her simple, ordinary life working for a private photography studio in New York City. When she is given an assignment to travel on a short festival tour with an up-and-coming band, Serenity, she isn’t happy since her first meeting with them hadn’t gone very well. Leaving her safe life behind for an unpredictable few months on the road is something she would definitely rather not do.

Serenity is a rock band just starting out after having been signed to an independent record label. While writing and getting ready to record their first album, their managers have arranged for some much needed exposure via the festival tour. Serenity’s members have a mutual love of music, but somewhat turbulent personal lives. Christian, lead vocalist, all-around musician and perfectionist, is bad-tempered and homesick, longing for the family he left in California in order to pursue his music career. Tony, the drummer and Christian’s childhood friend, is always there with a sarcastic, quick-witted comment, even if it’s not wanted, but is his frequent use of groupies and love of the rock and roll lifestyle hiding deeper issues? Mark, the group’s bassist, finds out a shocking secret about his past that sends his life into a tailspin, and Southern heartthrob, guitarist, Adam, the youngest of the four, is just trying to survive the cultural shock of moving from Houston, Texas to the fast paced life in New York City.

Each character has a story and these separate tales intertwine to create a canvas of each of their lives. But the main story is Julianna’s. With this unwanted assignment, she is thrust into an atmosphere she has never experienced before…and her suddenly ordinary life is turned upside down as she finds herself dealing with her parents’ imminent divorce, her troubled, runaway teenage sister and the way her undeniable, strong attraction to blue-eyed, surly Christian is interfering in her life plan. She never dreamed a trip on a tour bus would lead to a potential romance…or to near tragedy.

About the Author

Maura Murphy is a first-time author who discovered a passion for writing a few years ago in college. She resides in Fairfield, Connecticut with her family and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature from Fairfield University. The Winds of Change trilogy, which includes Serenity, Closer to You and The Long Run, was originally written for a college writing course and is her first published work. She is currently working as a kindergarten assistant and is also writing her third novel. She hopes to have more published in the near future.
