About the Book

Ashley Stratton, a kindergarten school teacher, resides in New York, but flies by plane to The Cove, her hometown several times a year to manage her business affairs, and attend to her many assets that her doting father, Charles Edward Stratton bequeathed her at his death. Charles was a business lion, owing seventy-five gushing oil wells and Real-Estate properties in New York, The Cove, and in Texas. He was one of the richest men in the world. Having no other children or relatives, the entire fortune fell to Ashley, his daughter upon his death. Once yearly, at the end of each school term, Ashley drives to The Cove and spends her vacations there. But on this particular trip, she has a reversal of fortune and encounters many unexpected dangers and mishaps beginning from the moment she picked up a stranger on a dark and dangerous road in the middle of a violent thunderstorm that overtook her as she drove from New York , and being invaded in her home in the early dawn hours after she’d safely reached her home and retired to bed. She awaken in the early morning hours, feeling the presence of someone in her room. Listening intently for some sounds, she heard none, and she felt that it was only a nervous feeling bought on by the events of the day. She turned over on her side to resume her sleep, and noticed the window curtains blowing eerily in the breeze from the open window. She closed her eyes and reopened them with a start. The curtains were blowing in the breeze through the window she had not left open, she never left her windows open, not even during daylight hours.

About the Author

Writing is a well loved hobby of mine, and it helps me to while away many would be lonely hours. It’s amazing how fast time flies when I’m involved in one of my writing escapades. I like to take words and phrases and turn them over in my mind and see what I can create out of them. Creating something out of nothing is a lot of fun. Recently the Word “COVE” invaded my mind. The word kept nagging and tugging at my brains, seeking a story. Finally, my over active imagination came up with this story. Of course it is only fiction and involves no person or place I’ve ever heard of before, except New York and Texas.
