About the Book

It is summer and Ann is spending her vacation with her parents in majestic Fundy National Park. Driving to the campsite, the periodic fog seems to play a trick on them as a truck appears out of nowhere and thunders past, almost bulldozing their motor home off the road. What a frightening greeting of their arrival! Anne and Higgins, her Golden Retriever, will not have anything in the way of having fun, exploring the vast park, and making new friends especially with Bart, the friendly boy at the pool. Not even Rachel who is playing tricks on her will dampen her good spirits. Yet the atmosphere in the campsite turns sinister as Sam, a young man, goes missing on the second day, leaving a distraught sister alone in tears. Everyone believes he has fallen off the cliff and into the deep and churning tide of Fundy bay. Ann herself had seen him and Henri, the grounds keeper and reckless driver, arguing in the shadows near the cliff. Henri seems to hate everyone in the park and could not be trusted. Ann was curious to explore the history and wildlife in the park especially of the birds but the mysterious disappearance of Sam seems to absorb her. Could she be on a detective mission as she stumbles upon clue after clue? Could she be in danger for getting closer to the truth? Join Ann and her trusty Golden Retriever, Higgins, on a summer of self-discovery and participation in a triumphant criminal arrest.

About the Author

Author Avis Connors has previously written a charming book entitled The Mischievous Cats. The book tells the story of two striped cats, named Zeke and Rambo, who both live in the home of a minister’s family. Seeking fun, Zeke and Rambo start playing around only to find themselves in trouble, which leads to an unexpected adventure that brings them to faraway places and back again. Mystery at Fundy is her newest book and will soon be available online and in bookstores. Mrs. Connors recently earned an Associate Degree in the Liberal Arts from the Houlton Higher Education Center at the ripe old age of 86. And for the author, it has been a long time coming. Mrs. Connors never had the chance to go to college after she graduated from high school. But she never lost sight of her dream. In the fall of 2000, she began taking college courses at HHEC. Never missing a semester, the author persevered through the loss of her husband and a major back injury to complete her course. She took great pleasure in the history courses and contributed real life experiences in class that were significant in terms of historical relevance. Such that when they discussed The Great Depression, Mrs. Connors shared what it was like to live through it. This was much appreciated by her professors and fellow students. Well-loved by the community and facility, the Center recognized her extraordinary accomplishment with a celebration bringing together faculty and students. Avis Connors continues to take courses here and there, and create appealing stories for young people that celebrate the fullness and zest of life.
