Stories of a Teenager

About the Book

The book entitled “Stories of a Teenager” is a book that gets the reader inside the mind of a teenager and lets the reader know how the person feels or thinks about certain events. The book contains over ten different types of poetry. Each entry has a different meaning and emotion involved. They all are independently written and get you inside the feelings of the writer. The book also contains writing prompts in which the writer writes about how he or she feels about an event at that particular moment or it is a page written on a hypothetical question. There will also be some short stories that are based upon dreams or goals. Reading those stories will put you in the character’s shoes and let you know how they feel at a given moment in the story. One of the stories titled “The Chris Woodson Story” makes a connection with the reader and the character. The story will make a reader realize a dream that they probably had in the past and tie it in with the struggles of the main character. This story was about a struggling band singer who goes through many different experiences to achieve his goal of making it to the top. Other stories like “Swish”, “Half Pipe”, and “Goal” are all about athletes who grew up and in one way or another learn how to succeed in life and in their sport. All three of these stories are about chasing a dream. The characters all experience some bumps in the road, but none of them ever stop working hard to get to where they want to be. Another story “Snap Shot” is not so much about chasing a dream, but it is about a man doing a job and years later his work becomes famous. It just goes to show you how little things can become big. The final short story is “Revenge of the Turkeys”. This story is a unique fictional story about turkeys taking over Thanksgiving. It has an action kind of feel to it and it should be quite interesting to read. After the short stories, there are many poems. About thirteen different types of poems were used. Some of the poems have similar messages and others are completely different, but they all have one thing in common because they all express an emotion that was felt at any given time. The book for the most part is just about getting into the mind of a seventeen year old high school student. After the main section, at the end are some stories by a guest author. The ideas of his stories are similar to those in the main one. Overall I think that people will be able to relate to some of the stories by their own experiences. This book is unique compared to other one’s out there. For the most part I hope people will enjoy it.

About the Author

Frank Sciortino is a 17 year old student at Sachem East High School. He is apart of the Varsity Tennis and Soccer teams. Sports are his favorite hobbies. Frank also plays the drums and is in the process of learning the guitar. Music is a major part of Frank’s life he hopes to play his instruments throughout his life. In school however, Frank loves to write. He has written many stories in school. This book has some of Frank’s short stories, poems, and writing prompts. They all take you on an adventure. Frank will always continue writing because he hopes to one day become a journalist.
