Twenty years from today, dynamic engineering firm SynCirrus has accomplished the marvel of controlling the world´s weather (averting droughts, halting hurricanes hell-bent for coastlines). As the world allows SynCirrus to shape and plan their every tomorrow, most everyone remains unaware of a fatal flaw hidden within the weather-control system´s design—-one that is as inevitable as it is deadly.

Headed by Simon Follow, a team of weather investigators (known as "Cloudbreakers”) is routinely dispatched to report on the bizarre weather aberrations--freak storms resulting from the firm´s imperfect system. When a horrific hailstorm claims the lives of four hikers in the desert, a new member is added to the Cloudbreaking team: Claire Holland, whose unique analytical skills lead her to disturbing truths concerning the nature of SynCirrus´s design.

Soon enough, they are put in the path of one disastrous weather event after another—-forced not only to survive the darkest sides of nature, but reconcile the many truths exposed in the aftermath of unscheduled storms.
