His first novel The Long Lost Journal of Confederate General James Johnston Pettigrew won the Wisconsin Library Association Achievement Award in 2002, and was also nominated for Gettysburg colleges $50,000 Lincoln Prize for 2001. He is also the author of Great American Fighter Aces and more than forty articles published in Civil War Times Illustrated, Civil War Magazine, World War II Magazine, and Military History Magazine.
