His first novel The Long Lost Journal of Confederate General James Johnston Pettigrew won the Wisconsin Library Association Achievement Award in 2002, and was also nominated for Gettysburg colleges $50,000 Lincoln Prize for 2001. He is also the author of Great American Fighter Aces and more than forty articles published in Civil War Times Illustrated, Civil War Magazine, World War II Magazine, and Military History Magazine. Dan currently serves as the Principal for the Monroe, Wisconsin Virtual Charter High School. Dan’s wife Galina is a DMA candidate in voice Performance at Michigan State University. The Eighth Air Force sustained between 26,000 and 28,000 combat deaths, roughly one-tenth of the Americans killed in World War II. This was approximately 12.3% of the 210,000 Eighth Air Force crew members who flew in combat.
