About the Author
This ambitious book came about as a direct result of the convening of three civic-minded individuals: Robert Grusnick, who served the former Pontiac Township first as a Trustee and later as Township Supervisor from 1972 until 1983 and was the new City’s first Mayor, from 1984 until 1994; Leonard Hendricks, the first Auburn Hills City Manager who served the City from 1984 until 1992; and Wilson Garner, Chair-person of the Auburn Hills Historical Society. Early in 2006, Grusnick, Hendricks and Garner began conducting regular meetings during which they discussed the possibility of creating “a book” that would chronicle the sequence of events that helped to set the stage for a Township to become a City. After selecting journalist/author Trout Pomeroy as writer, Grusnick, Hendricks and Garner played pivotal roles in shaping the book’s outline and direction. By early-2007 the document was completed. Then the real fun began. Project Director Jeanetta Miller took over from there and spent most of the year editing text, focusing on graphic elements, combing over details and preparing the document for publication. Ms. Miller played an instrumental role in bringing the project from vision to reality … a published work at last!
