About the Book

Sean and Michael were not only cousins, but they were also best friends. Together they got into all types of mischief: teasing bulls, sneaking potatoes from the farmers’ fields, and scaring Michael’s younger sister Kathleen. But mostly, this is the story of two cousins leaving Ireland to settle in a new land. Their fathers had gone off to America to make a better life for their families a year before, and it was just a matter of time until there was enough money for their families to join them. Sean’s great adventure came first, when he and his mother crossed the Atlantic on one of the fastest ships on the ocean, the Lusitania. But that meant for a few years his only contact with his cousin was through the letters they wrote back and forth. Finally Michael's Dad saved enough money to also bring his family to Norristown, Pennsylvania. Was the luck of the Irish with Michael as well? He certainly thought so, and he was thrilled to be going to sea on the greatest Irish built ship ever. He was sailing to America on the largest ship in the world. He was sailing on the Titanic!

About the Author

Ned and Dru Schillow grew up in the town of Skippack, Pennsylvania, fascinated by the story of the sinking of the Titanic, prompted by watching the two grand movies of the 1950s that told this story, “Titanic” and “A Night to Remember.” After writing and publishing Titanic Hearts, and a book about pets entitled Life Without Copper, they decided to return to the Titanic for their next adventure in writing.
