About the Author

My name is, Marlene Kay (Basaraba) Herman, the daughter of William and Kathrine (Malkowski) Basaraba, their fourth child out of seven children. My nickname is Marla; I was born in Dickinson, North Dakota in 1951. Some of my hobbies and interests include writing poems and songs, painting, and working with and designing jewelry. I co-authored “My Book…My Memories with my Mother, Kay Basaraba. This was our first attempt at writing and publishing a book. This book was written to honor my Mom. One day, my Mom and I were visiting and after she finished telling me a cute story. We laughed and I said, “Mom, you should write a book.” and Mom said, “Why don’t we.” That is how this book was started.
